Jessica & Craig proved themselves to be adventurous spirits when we did drove to Payson for their engagement photos through a nasty little monsoon storm. I’m talking can’t-see-out-the-window-because-it’s-raining-so-hard while driving on mountainous, curvy roads. Driving was a little dicey through the downpour, but Craig got us through, and we were greated with cool temperatures, rare rain and a gorgeous sunset. I knew then that they were my people! Fast forward to Jessica’s good friend’s Sam’s wedding at the Phoenix Zoo and I got to know them a little bit more. When their own wedding day rolled around, I felt like we were old friends! Originally, Jessica had planned her wedding at Schnepf Farms but a fire broke out at the barn at the end of the year, so just 4 months before her wedding, she had to change the venue. Luckily, Eagle Mountain Golf Resort had an opening, and it turned out to be a stunning venue! I loved the beautiful mountain views overlooking the valley as well as the BEST trees for a ceremony that created a natural frame. You don’t get trees like that in a lot of venues in Phoenix! More than the beautiful details which Jessica & her family did a wonderful job on (they made those centerpiece boxes!) were the wonderful moments throughout the day. Documenting those little moments is what drives me as a wedding photographer and makes each wedding unique and reflective of my clients and their personalities. It’s those little things like the fist bump during the recessional or the little look your mom gives you as she puts on your necklace that make your wedding yours, and you want to hold on to those little moments for forever. I love that photography can do that so you have a tangible story to pass down of your wedding day.
