A few weeks ago, my mom & I took a girl’s trip for a few days to Friday Harbor, San Juan Island in Washington. I’ve had a longtime love of orcas since I was little, sparked by the movie Free Willy of course. Seeing these animals in the wild is far better than a marine park so I try to go as often as I’m able. Plus escaping Phoenix to 70 degree temperatures was pure heaven. I miss the sea breeze and the call of gulls so much, the ocean calls to my soul. I definitely live in the wrong state being a scuba diver, but oceanfront property tends to be pretty expensive, so I suppose I’ll just stick with traveling to the ocean as much as possible!

All photos were taken by: Olympus EM1 mirrorless camera with Olympus 17mm 1.8 lens, Olympus 45mm 1.8 lens & Panasonic 100-300mm lens. I’m loving my little travel camera so far and it’s so nice to not lug around all my big heavy DSLRs and lenses. It’s also great because of the 2x crop factor, meaning my telephoto lenses are 2x the power compared to a traditional 35mm camera which is definitely useful for getting closer shots of whales without carrying around a monsterous, heavy (and expensive) super telephoto lens.
