This handsome guy might look familiar- I photographed his older brother, who looks like his freaking TWIN, 4 years ago. I’ve been friends with this family since I was in PRESCHOOL, and their older sister Alex was in my wedding and I was in hers. I can’t say how much I love photographing life for them. Grey is graduating from Desert Vista High School and wanted a cool, modern location for his senior portraits. We shot his session at the Mesa Arts Center which has a ton of awesome metal walls, concrete and all sorts of interesting textures. I love Grey’s easy laugh that lights up his whole face. It makes me feel so old to know he’s graduating! I remember when he was just a little kid tagging along with his brother on all of his adventures. His older brother, Cooper, is also graduating college, so I’ll be posting his college graduation photos in a little while as well!
Guys typically don’t get a lot of attention with high school and college graduate portraits. In my experience, it’s because most of them aren’t really that into having photos done- often Mom has to push them a little bit to get them done. But they can be a fun experience! Bringing in props, or simply choosing a location with a lot of places to explore can make it a fun experience. I work with guys to get them to open up and once they are having fun, I can get a lot of great genuine smiles from them. I also like to capture cooler portraits of them once we get the photos Mom wants.
