De’Andra & Geoff had been together for more than 6 years before deciding to elope. They got married on their anniversary of dating, in the place where it all started! An elopement slowly morphed into a very small wedding, but I think having their closest friends and family made it that much more meangingful.
Though larger weddings are wonderful, big weddings aren’t for everyone. I personally love the intimacy of elopements, especially when they occur in meaningful places. Extra bonus points if it’s somewhere super gorgeous like the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. Arizona is full of absolutely stunning locations to elope- many of which don’t even require much of a drive! If you are eloping, we will typically have the time to do some hiking (if you’re willing). Not many people have photos on top of a mountain in their wedding clothes. A lot of people are even opting to have small receptions in backyards or at restuarants in order to be able to be with friends, without being overwhelmed by having everyone at the ceremony. When having a small outdoor wedding or eloping, it’s best to schedule it on a weekday to avoid most of the crowds. Most wedding photographers give reduced rates to weddings or elopements happening on the weedays because of less demand for those dates, or if the wedding is happening in less than a few months.
