I never really know what to say in these year recap posts. It always feels like I’m saying the same cliched things over and over, but really, each year is amazing. 2018 was a year of wonderful growth for my business. As with every year, I was so blessed with so many amazing clients. I know I say that every year, but I really am amazed at the people I get to work with every year and the stories I get to tell.
In 2018, I photographed 13 weddings, 7 elopements and 45 portrait sessions. I edited and delivered around 17000 images. I photographed sessions from Antelope Canyon, to the Grand Canyon, to Flagstaff, to Payson, to Crown King and of course all over the Phoenix area. Many of my clients were from out of state and I relished being able to show them the beauty of Arizona. I witnessed so many beautiful moments- past clients becoming parents, pure unrestricted joy on wedding days, laughter, crying, rain turning into rainbows on wedding days and so many more moments. It’s always an honor to document so many pieces of my clients lives, as as cliched as it is, I will never get tired of it.
On a personal note, this year was full of learning to balance busy with having a personal life outside of work, as much as I love my job. Work & life balance is an active process and something you have to work at constantly and will never truly master. Richard & I got to visit Japan, which is another blog post I owe you. I also visited Banff, Canada with my mom which I’m itching to get back to with Richard. We also explored several areas of Arizona we had never been to. I started gardening again seriously and hope to turn our dirt backyard into a jungle within a few years by planting as many fruit trees as I can possibly fit. I also got a tattoo – an orca by Austin West in a beautiful watercolor style on my shoulder. After 3 years of not having professional photos of myself & Richard despite my own vow to get them done every year, we finally got some done in October. See, even photographers are subject to the same procrastination that my clients surely deal with! And most notably, in November I found out that I was expecting and am due in July 2019. We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives.
To all of my wonderful clients- thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me and allowing me to do what I love for a living. I hope that I can honor that in a small way by hopefully creating meaningful art for you and capturing small bits of your life for you to look back on and cherish and bring you comfort in times of struggle.
