Sometimes, weddings don’t go as planned. Most brides’ biggest fears is rain. Rain can definitely throw a wrench into even the best laid plans, but it’s out of your control so as long as you have a rain plan and professional vendors who are used to handling things when they don’t go as planned, it’s best just to roll with the punches! Amber & Bobby came to Arizona from Canada to enjoy the beautiful warm February weather, blue skies and desert landscape. Gold Canyon Golf Resort & Spa near the Superstitions provided a stuning place for their wedding. Unfortunately, Arizona had different plans. A powerful rain system was in the forecast and I watched the forecast for weeks leading up to their wedding, hoping and praying that the rain would hold off til evening. The rain held off for their first look and the clouds actually enhanced the desert’s beauty with soft even light, instead of the usual harsh, bright sunlight that comes with early afternoon sun in Arizona. Rain rolled in for family formals, but Gold Canyon Resort had plenty of gorgeous covered areas. We all held our breath that it would clear off for the ceremony, but alas, we had to move it indoors. Amber took it with such grace however, and Amber, Bobby & their wedding party were up for braving some sprinkles for some portraits outside. All the rain Arizona has been getting since November bathed the grounds in a vibrant green that was so gorgeous. I haven’t seen the desert so green! The reception was gorgeous with gold sequin linens and white and pink florals. The soft patter of rain on the rooftop was a relaxing backdrop to the night’s festivities. One definite benefit of rain are gorgeous, romantic nighttime rain shots which is a rarity to get here in Arizona since it rains so infrequently. I’m so thankful for Amber & Bobby for not letting a little bit (ok, a lot bit) of rain dampen their day and being willing to step outside in the rain with me for some photos! Plus, it’s said that rain is good luck, and I’d say that Amber & Bobby have a lot of good luck!
